Bharat Gupta, CEO

Jagran New Media

Bharat Gupta is the Chief Executive Officer of Jagran New Media, the digital wing of India's largest print and radio publisher group, Jagran Prakashan Ltd. With more than 22 years of stellar experience to his credit, Bharat has been at the helm of managing and turning around diverse media businesses across print, radio, ground activation, and digital. With over 100 million users, JNM is among the top internet media groups in India.

Bharat has played a pivotal role in spearheading the vision and credo statement of JNM, premised on providing “factual and credible content that empowers 'New Bharat' through knowledge, information, and POV towards an inclusive and progressive society”. With a specific focus on fostering an equitable work environment, Jagran New Media extensively embraces and champions diversity in a multitude of aspects, including age, gender, and ethnicity. Embodying the three intertwined values of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), which are at the heart of the organizational culture owing to their pivotal role in ensuring higher innovation, growth, engagement, and retention of employees and other stakeholders.

Under Bharat's guidance, VishvasNews.com, the fact-checking wing of Jagran New Media, with its flagship and award-winning programme, Sach Ke Sathi, has attained multiple international grants and awards. In 2022, Bharat brought together the IAMAI, Meta, and India's 10 leading newsrooms to collaborate on a capacity-building year-long fellowship programme. Vishvas.News participated and presented two case studies at GlobalFact 9 and GlobalFact 10 summits by the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN) in the years 2022 and 2023. Bharat is also the founding member & President of the Misinformation Combat Alliance (MCA), a cross-industry collaborative effort to combat and limit the spread of misinformation.

In addition to his present role as CEO, Bharat is also serving as the President of the INMA South Asia Division (International News & Media Association), he is also a Co-Chair at the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI); a founding member of the Digital News Publishers Association (DNPA); a Board Member of the International Fact Check Network (IFCN); an Advisory Board Member of FT Strategies, London; and a Member of the Google Global News Advisory Group and YouTube Global News Advisory Group; and the founding member & President of the Misinformation Combat Alliance (MCA), a cross-industry collaborative effort to combat and limit the spread of misinformation.

In recognition of his achievements in the industry, he was awarded 'Youth Achievers Award' at the Sixth Global Marketing and Social Media Awards, in 2014. Jagran New Media was certified by GPTW (Great Place to Work) for 3 years in a row and was bestowed with Best Place to Work (Media) in 2021. For his contributions, GPTW recognised Bharat as One of India's Best Leaders in Times of Crisis 2021. He has been awarded as DMA Trailblazer Award 2023 in the “Women” category under “Individual Excellence” for his impactful vision and leadership in shaping HerZindagi's incredible journey to make it the No.1 leading women's website in just 5 years and touching the hearts of over 20 million people monthly.

Prior to his current role, with an experience of 15 years in print media and local advertising, he has been responsible for launching new ad platforms like a weekly travel supplement called Yatra, a weekly lifestyle magazine called Jagran City, and India's first city community newspaper called City Plus, which was launched specifically to cover the non-JPL footprint by addressing key hyperlocal areas across key metros. He previously held the position of Chief Marketing Officer at JNM in 2016, prior to which he was the Executive President of Marketing, at Dainik Jagran before his elevation to CEO of Jagran New Media in 2017.

Rajesh Upadhyay

Editor in Chief and Sr. Vice President

Rajesh Upadhyay is a seasoned journalist with over 25 years of robust experience in mainstream journalism. He has in-depth knowledge of print as well as digital media. He has demonstrated experience in strategizing content, deploying digital teams, tailoring news stations and workflows to achieve measurable results. Currently, he is the Editor-in-Chief and Senior Vice President of Jagran New Media. He has also been the driving force behind the next generation fact-checking and news verification portal, Vishvas News, and provides leadership to the News, Information, and Education portals as well. Before joining Jagran New Media, he had a successful innings spanning a decade at the Bhaskar Group as Editor. In the past, he has also been associated with HT Media where he led their Hindi website 'Hindustan' as an Editor.

He is a Postgraduate in Journalism and Mass Communication and is also an alumnus of IIM Indore. He is a Google News Initiative India Training Network fact check trainer and represented his organization in several workshops organized by IFCN, GNI, Facebook, Crowdtangle, and ICFJ at national and international level.

Gaurav Arora

Chief Operating Officer

A sales veteran with over 18 years of experience, out of which 15 years have been with Digital Media. In his current role at Jagran New Media, he drives the Revenue- Strategy, Systems & Programmes. His top priority is to accelerate & match revenue growth through Media Sales, Partnerships, Strategic Alliances, Events & Syndications with the exponential user growth that group sites have been witnessing in the last few years. A stickler for perfection, he's been pushing the envelope for driving innovation & value for both external clients and internal stakeholders through pragmatic & holistic monetization strategies in the ever changing digital ecosystem.

Prior to JNM, Gaurav was associated with Times Internet Limited where he started & scaled multiple businesses including Dynamic pricing based e-commerce platform, Mobile monetization for all Times Group sites, Native ads platform & Audience sales. Prior to this, he has also worked with HCL Technologies and General Electric.

Megha Mamgain

Head-Health and Lifestyle Verticals

A respected name and face in the media industry, Megha Mamgain is a journalist with over 15 years of experience in digital and traditional media. At Jagran New Media, Megha heads the Health and Lifestyle verticals. She brings in sophisticated storytelling, engaging tools and her vast expertise in content creation.

OnlyMyHealth.com and HerZindagi.com, Jagran New Media's prime products have been carefully steered, strategized and managed by her. Her flair for engaging interviews, her knack for hooking narratives and her out of the box ideas bring an edge and spark to her products. Leading a high target driven digital newsroom, she ensures high quality, credible content at all costs. With her astute vision, she deploys resources, devices workflows, creates monetizable properties and builds robust brands. Megha was awarded the Most Influential Content Marketing Professional Award 2019 by World Marketing Congress Prior to JNM, Megha worked as a television journalist, news anchor and Executive Producer for brands like CNN-News18 and NDTV. She is a trained Indian Classical singer with a background in theatre and performing arts.
